Take Me to the Arts!

The AICP is having its annual exhibit at MoMA, called The Art and Technique of the American Commercial. Having just started in the commercial industry I find myself looking at commercials in a different light. Mainly I look at commercials and think about all the effort that goes into making a 30sec spot. The different locations, rigorous shooting, and a subtle light or camera angle that can change the whole tone of the spot. When you get past what the commercial is selling, you can see how some director take it to the next level with a sense of drama and artistic flare. These are the commercials that stand out from the many that stream before us and cause us to appreciate the subtle techniques used (even if we are unaware). For New Yorker the Exhibit opens June 5th -May 7th for non-locals check out this year’s visually simulating commercials at http://www.aicpshow.com/
