Incentive Package Approved By LA City Council
In an article written by Dave McNary of the Daily Variety, The Los Angeles City Council has approved a package to entice productions to continue filming in Los Angeles and not seek out-of-state
options. “The council adopted the seven-point package in a unanimous vote Wednesday. It includes provisions designed to make it easier to shoot in L.A., and it directs city staffers to develop guidelines for a business tax break for film and TV productions,” (Daily Variety, March 25). The incentives also include reduced parking prices and the installation of utility nodes in frequently used locations. Last month California approved a $500 million production tax credit that will become effective July 2009. These new incentives will ease the strain on productions budgets and will bring in more revenue to California. This is a great package that will definitely benefit the state and ease some of the pains of production.
